VERDICT

As a judge, I think position 2 won the trial. Looking at the performance of position 1, I could see that the members of position 1 either failed to communicate with each other or failed to prepare well for the trial. The witnesses from position 1 didn't seem like they contacted each other before the trial. Their arguments were sometimes even contradicting each others. Only some witnesses really knew what they were doing. The other witnesses sometimes even stated things that went against their own ideas, and when questions were asked, some looked very confused, and they couldn't answer. Also, position 1's lawyer's opening statement was not organized and seemed unprepared. I was very confused as a listener, because that lawyer talked about some points that aren't really related to the topic we were discussing. For example, she suddenly talked about how people sleep late and that is bad. I also think that position 2 did a better job cross examining. Maybe it was because position 1 didn't get enough time to ask questions to position 2. However, I think position 2's lawyers really tried to attack the witnesses' points, and some witnesses couldn't answer some questions that were asked. The question that one of the lawayers said was, "Isn't the dragon's meaning of life happiness if he finds happiness seeking and sitting on gold?" It was a very good point that made the dragons unable to speak. Also, position 2 witnesses answered the questions really well in a calm manner. I think the quote that impacted the trial the most and led position 2 to victory is this statement stated by Unferth: "Except in the life of a hero, the whole world’s meaningless. The hero sees values beyond what’s possible. That’s the nature of a hero. It kills him, of course, ultimately. But it makes the whole struggle of humanity worth while.” He said this to prove that everything we do is worthy. This was a very good point that led position 1 lawyers to stop questioning.
